Why am I doing this?

I love our country and believe that it is our responsibility to preserve it. I believe our government is too large, too powerful, and too expensive. For too long we have stood by and watched politicians magnify the power and expense of the Federal Government year after year.
My goal in Washington will be to stop the spenders of our tax dollars. I will be fighting against career politicians who have been termed-out of their current elected office and have presided over the worst state economy in the country. Does anyone really believe that sending those same tax and spend politicians to Washington is the answer?
We need more individuals in Congress that have experience creating jobs. I am someone who has created hundreds of jobs over twenty five years. I have never had to layoff a worker or allow a bill to go unpaid.
I would like to lend a consistent, responsible, conservative voice to Washington. The unintended consequences of Washington’s politicians often have devastating affects. There seems to be a fundamental disconnect between what politicians think creates prosperity and what actually does. I understand that the key to economic growth is the ability for the entrepreneurial spirit to be unleashed through less government burden on our country’s citizens and small businesses.
For generations, millions of people have risked their lives and left their homes and families to escape the tyranny of their homeland, for a chance at the American Dream. They didn’t make these sacrifices because of the name “America,” they did it for the promise of America. It was the promise of economic freedom and self-determination would be the only thing standing between them and a better tomorrow.
Today we sit at a precipice; we are giving up both our individual and economic freedoms at an alarming rate. We are at a critical time in our nation’s history and it is our duty to get involved in and participate in our government. It’s time for us to ensure that we are represented by people like us…that represent values we in West Michigan hold dear. I truly believe that if America loses its freedom, the world will lose its freedom.
I am doing this because I believe there are enough people in our community who have had enough. For far too long we have allowed career politicians to legislate in a manner that has placed trillions of dollars of debt on the shoulders of our children and grandchildren. I am proud of the jobs I’ve created in West Michigan and I am preparing to fight for Michigan jobs in our United States Congress. With the help and support of West Michigan’s voters, that’s exactly what I intend to do.
